2. AI-Generated Content Disclosure

WanderTheSphere uses artificial intelligence (AI) to generate travel itineraries, route suggestions, and hotel recommendations. The content produced by our AI is based on your inputs and general training data, and does not constitute professional travel advice. Always verify important details (opening hours, prices, visa requirements) independently before travelling.

3. What Data We Collect

• Account data: your name and email address when you register.
• Travel preferences: destinations, interests, budget level, and trip details you enter.
• Location data: destination coordinates used to fetch maps and route information.
• Profile avatar: a preset avatar you select from our collection.
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, and timestamps (for improving the service and detecting abuse).
• Device data: browser type, operating system, and IP address for security purposes.

4. How We Use Your Data

• To provide, personalise, and improve the WanderTheSphere service.
• To generate AI-powered travel itineraries based on your preferences.
• To prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
• To send important service updates (not marketing, unless you opt in).
• To comply with legal obligations under Dutch and EU law.

5. Third Parties We Share Data With

We share limited data with the following third-party services to operate the application:

• Google Maps & Places API: location search, routing, and place data. Google Privacy Policy.
• Hotelbeds: hotel availability searches (destination, dates, occupancy). Hotelbeds Legal.
• TravelPayouts: hotel affiliate links and pricing data (destination, dates). TravelPayouts Privacy Policy.
• Base44 (AI platform): powers our AI features. Your prompts (destination, preferences) are processed to generate itineraries.
• PostHog: product analytics to help us understand how the app is used and improve the user experience. We capture page views, button clicks, and subscription events. IP addresses are used for approximate location and are not retained long-term. PostHog Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your account data immediately — your trips, saved spots, and profile records are permanently removed from our database. Profile photos are selected from a set of preset avatars and are not user-uploaded, so no personal images are stored. We will permanently remove any remaining personal data within 30 days of your deletion request, except where we are legally required to retain it longer (e.g. for financial records related to payments).

7. Your Rights (GDPR / AVG)

As a user in the European Union, you have the following rights:

• Right of access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: correct inaccurate personal data.
• Right to erasure: request deletion of your account and personal data.
• Right to data portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by email or via an in-app notice for material changes. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
